Alex Kobia has resigned from his position as Managing Director, Nation Broadcasting Division , with effect from 22nd June, 2019.
Alex Kobia has quit his position as Nation Media Group, Broadcasting Division, barely a year into the job.
Kobia's resignation as Managing Director, Nation Broadcasting Division is with effect from 22nd June, 2019.
No reasons were given for his resignation.
Kobia holds a Masters in Science degree from University of Liverpool.
Kobia joined NMG in 2018 from Aljazeera Media Group where he was the Head of Sales and Distribution, Sub Saharan Africa.
Previously, he has held senior positions in African Media Group Limited (AMGL), Tanzania, TV Africa Kenya & Uganda, Sanyu Television, Uganda and Kenya Television Network (KTN), Kenya.
Kobia was appointed in March 2018 to replace Linus Kaikai who had resigned as general manager to join rival Royal Media.
an avid golfer, Kobia was responsible for the overall running of the NMG broadcast division, which comprises NTV Kenya and Uganda , KFM radio station and Spark TV, which broadcast in Luganda language.
In a mini reshuffle after Kobia's resignation, NMG CEO Stephen Gitagama directed Justus Tharao (production and programming operations) and Betty Kuremwa (commercial) will report to him until a substantive replacement is identified.
Emmanuel Juma, will continue to report to the Group Editorial Director (Mutumas Mathiu). Martin Mwaura (technical) and Nickson Kirwa (marketing) will report to Justus.
