Online Betting Firm BetLion launches Operations in Kenya

Betlion, backed by British betting tycoon Victor Chandler, makes Kenya its second unit in Africa


BetLion, a leading Africa’s leading online gaming website, launched operations in Kenya today.

A first-of-its-kind, interactive and innovative platform that will provide an unrivaled personalized customer service whilst remaining commitment to its principle of “Sport Just Got Better”.

“The platform can be accessed via the web, android application, SMS and USSD, in the spirit of building an all-inclusive platform,” stated Spencer Okach, BetLion Kenya Managing Director, adding that, “BetLion will be offering sports book (both live and pre-match) and virtual sports at the onset.”

BetLion will go head-to-head against already established firms such as SportPesa, Betway and Betin which have seven million Kenyans registered.

British betting tycoon Victor Chandler, who is worth £230 million (Sh30.1 billion), is a significant shareholder of the Kenyan unit of BetLion that also count local investors as owners.

BetLion has gained a significant share in the Ugandan market since setting shop early this year. BetLion is aims to establish presence in eight other African countries.
