Pamela Sittoni will become the first woman to head Nation Media Group’s flagship publication Daily Nation.
Sittoni was named the Executive Editor, Daily Nation, to replace Mutuma Mathiu who was last week promoted to the position of NMG Editorial Director.
Until her new appointment, Sittoni was the Managing editor of the East African, a weekly publication from NMG.
Ochieng Rapuro, the managing editor of Business Daily takes over from Sittoni at the East African while Nganga Mbugua, the Saturday nation Editor, replaces Rapuro at the Business Daily.
The appointments were made on Tuesday, according to sources. Wayua Muli was reportedly named the Managing editor, Saturday, replacing Mbugua.
Sittoni joined NMG as a reporter in 1993, rising through the ranks to become the managing editor at the rival Standard in 2005.
Prior to re-joining the Nation Media Group in 2012, she was a Communication Specialist at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Kenya.
Sittoni holds a degree in literature and anthropology and a post-graduate diploma in communication from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and a Master’s degree in New Media, Democracy and Governance, from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.
