Larry Madowo to host the Global Mobile Awards 2019 in Barcelona, Spain

Madowo to co-host the ceremony with fellow TV presenter Remel London


Kenya’s high-flying journalist Larry Madowo has been picked to host the prestigious 2019 GLOMO Awards ceremony in Barcelona which takes place 25-28 February.

Madowo, a former anchor with Kenya's NTV, is currently the BBC Africa Business Editor.

He is also a Global Contributing Columnist for the Washington Post.

“Larry brings a wealth of experience to the team, having reported from more than 40 countries and interviewed some of the world’s most prominent business, political and cultural leaders,” reads a statement from GSMA. “Larry will also present selected awards throughout the week.”

Madowo’s co-host Remel is an award-winning TV and radio presenter and online video blogger.

He currently hosts a weekend show on CAPITAL XTRA and is a lead presenter on SKY 1’s What’s Up TV.

The presentation of awards in the “Fourth Industrial Revolution”, “Consumer”, “Content and Media” and “Device” categories will take place at the GSMA Innovation City and will also be broadcast live to a global audience on Mobile World Live TV at www.mobileworldlive.com.

At the same time, GSMA announced the nominees for the Global Mobile Awards 2019 (GLOMO Awards).

Kenya’s leading publicly quoted company Safaricom is among the five nominees for Best Mobile Innovation for Commerce.

Safaricom was nominated for its M-PESA Global application. Other nominees competing with Safaricom are Huawei&Schwarz Gruppe for CloudCampus Solution and Synchronoss for The Synchronoss Digital Experience Platform.

Others are Ubamarket &DMI for Ubamarket and Whisbi for Conversational Sales and Marketing Platfrom for Enterprises .
