Former Nation Media Group Editor Naim Bilal appointed KBC MD

He will serve for three years with effect from 20th March 2019.


Former Nation Media Group senior editor Dr Naim Bilal Yaseen is the new Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Managing director.

Dr Bilal’s appointment is in the latest edition of the Kenya Gazette.

He will serve for three years with effect from 20th March 2019.

Dr Bilal replaces long serving Waithaka Waihenya who quit last year.

Before the appointment, Dr Bilal served as director of information, ministry of information, communication and technology.

He also previously served as the Director, Public Affairs and Communication at The Judiciary.

He has served in the private, international and public sectors over the last 27 years of his career.

Dr. Bilal worked with Nation Media Group for 19 years in various capacities, including bureau Chief Mombasa, News editor and head of NTV.

He holds a PhD in Communication Studies from Moi University, Masters in Communications Policy from City University – UK, Masters of Business Administration from State University of Lleida – Spain, BA in Police Science from University of South Africa; a Diploma in Journalism from Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, a certificate in Strategic Leadership from Kenya School of Government and a wide range of professional certificates.

He has also served as a media and communications consultant for United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Media Council of Kenya and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
